Summer is officially here! With the sun shining (at intervals here in England) thoughts turn to what to do for the summer. Personally I plan a fun filled summer with everything from baking and movie-making, to designing and rock-climbing.
With these adventures to come I want to make sure I can be comfortable and practical at the same time. So first I want to lay out go-to rules for the summer's capsule wardrobe:
1. Dark Jeans are the go to when lost. I know first hand that there are days when I have no idea what to wear with some of my dresses in the wash, so what to do? Never fear because dark jeans will be your salvation. They can be found perfectly matched for every skin type and tone, they don't show creases as well as light jeans do (and so are perfect when you're in a hurry), and they are easily found in most stores, my personal favorites are from New Look and River Island, and can be found for under £20. Plus wearing dark jeans is perfect for any activity you want to do over the summer. Plus plus plus, for us modest femmes it means we can wear lighter tops with shorter sleeves stopping you from overheating, but still looking show stopping.
2. Go for t-shirts. With your legs covered you can afford to leave your arms a little barer in the summer heat. T-shirts don't have to be skin tight try opting for white or pale coloured over-sized t's. They are practical, airy, and you don't have to worry about how your butt looks all the time, allowing you to spend more time on your activities and having fun.
3. Short dresses can be good. Just try to make sure you don't pick the dresses that are two sizes too small, instead opt for the one size too big as these will give you better use for a longer time and they can be better accessorized if they are loose with a belt to clinch at the waist.
4. Pastel coloured tops are a must have for your summer capsule wardrobe. These are must-haves for the summer as you won't want to over heat. Also remember not too tight is always right :)
5. Sunblock is a must have accessory, as obvious as it sounds, whatever the occasion during the day be sure to carry a bag big enough for the block. Sensitive skin will thank you and the face and arms are two of the most sensitive spots on our bodies. Take care of them for a summer of smiles.
Now we have the ground rules I will give out some examples of outfits you can put together for different occasions whether it is a summer bake sale, or a rock climbing adventure, you too can look super this summer!
Bring on the fun!

What's to come
In this blog I want to give those of us who like our skin covered up a chance to look fashion forward and fabulous no matter what the season. We are seeing an increase in the number of girls forced to look a certain way, and in our world that way is skimpy skirts, tight t's and sky-high heels.
This blog is going to give a little insight to how you can dress modestly without giving up your fashionista licence, with examples of pieces that are genuinely affordable for anyone with an allowance that doesn't stretch too far (I know how you feel).
So without further ado I hope you like the entries let me know if you would like some advice on dressing for special events.
